JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Grant Writer for USTA Hawaii Pacific
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
FLSA Status: Full-Time/Exempt
Reports To: Executive Director
Key duties and responsibilities
Research Funding Opportunities: Identifying grants that align with the organization's needs and objectives to raise money for the following programs:
Schools: USTA provides the equipment at no cost, the curriculum to PE Teachers and training to physical educators in schools for their during and after school PE program.
Red Ball: With modified equipment and a slightly shorter court, this social experience is designed to bring new players to the courts and have them playing the game in 10 minutes!
Community Programs: We offer affordable beginner and advanced tennis classes & lessons at 16+ park sites for youth and adults. Racquets and balls are provided.
Grant Writing and Proposal Development: Crafting compelling narratives, gathering data, and refining applications to clearly articulate the organization's mission, goals, and impact.
Compliance and Reporting: Ensuring all proposals meet funder requirements, tracking grant spending, and preparing and submitting reports to ensure compliance with funding agreements and deadlines.
Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with various teams (program directors, finance, leadership) to develop strong proposals and maintain relationships with funders and stakeholders.
Strategy and Support: Contributing to the overall fundraising strategy and supporting other fundraising initiatives.
Essential skills and qualifications
Strong Writing and Communication Skills: Ability to write clear, concise, and persuasive proposals, and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
Research and Analytical Abilities: Identifying funding opportunities, understanding the target audience and funder priorities, and gathering necessary data and information.
Organizational and Project Management Skills: Managing multiple applications, deadlines, and requirements effectively.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to grant guidelines and compliance requirements.
Financial Literacy: Understanding and developing budgets for proposals.
Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Working effectively with internal teams and external funders and stakeholders.
Education and experience
Bachelor's Degree: English, Communications, Business, Nonprofit Management, or related fields.
Grant Writing Experience: Experience in grant writing, fundraising, or related areas, with a proven track record of securing grants being highly valued.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Strong research skills and familiarity with grant databases and online resources.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software (e.g., project management tools, grant tracking systems).
Experience developing project budgets and understanding financial documentation.
Certifications: Certifications like the Grant Professional Certified (GPC) can enhance credibility.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in grant management software and research databases is often beneficial.
Grant writers are crucial for the success and sustainability of organizations dedicated to making a positive impact on society by securing essential funding for their programs and initiatives.
Salary: $75,000 / plus healthcare benefits

Tennis Coach/Teaching Professional
Position Title: Tennis Coach/Teaching Professional

FLSA Status: Full-Time/Exempt
Reports To: Executive Director & Director of Community Tennis
Department: Community Tennis
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide tennis instruction for the Play & Learn program.
Mobile teaching professional at more than one park site.
Conduct tennis lessons based on the schedule provided by the Community Tennis Director
Essential Duties:
Provide private, semi-private and group tennis lessons.
Provide tennis instruction in a safe manner.
Be properly groomed and dressed.
Act in a professional and customer service-oriented manner
Other Duties:
Handle communications with students to include rain outs, cancellations, and other questions they may have.
Maintain recommended class sizes.
Have students complete a class evaluation and have these sent to the USTA HPS office.
Do not teach on public tennis courts without a permit.
Working Conditions: Outdoors on the tennis court
Work Hours: Full Time: commissions based on lesson income from teaching Play & Learn classes and health care benefits
Equipment Use: requires good computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to communicate by email and access class roster.
Mental and Physical Demands: Requires the ability to play tennis at an NTRP level of 4.5 or higher. Requires the ability to teach group tennis lessons outdoors. Transportation required and must be willing to travel to different locations.
Communication Demands: Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Daily communication with staff and frequent communication with the Executive Director and Director of Community Tennis. Requires contacts and good rapport with the community.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of tennis. Tennis playing experience at an NTRP level of 4.5 or higher. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Education/Experience: High School degree required, and college preferred.
Salary Grade and Range: Preferred USPTA or PTR certified tennis instructor at a Development Coach level or higher

Position Title: Pro Shop Attendant
FLSA Status: Part Time
Reports to: Pro Shop Manager
Responsibilities
Assist the Pro Shop Manager with the administration duties, court scheduling, booking lessons, answering phones and all other customer service related duties..
Maintain the Pro Shop, have a good work ethic and the ability to communicate well with members and guests, must be professional and provide excellent customer service.
Responsible for booking playing times. Updates sign-up sheets for court reservations.
Work Hours
19 hours or less a week (includes some weekend work)
Skills and Qualifications
Outstanding organizational and administrative skills
Excellent written and communication skills
Strong customer service skills
Proficient using the following types of equipment: computer, telephone, printer and Square credit card transaction machine
Preferred to have a tennis background and understanding of the sport

Department: Junior & Adult Tennis
Primary Responsibilities:
Knowledge of Serve Tennis preferred
Applicant must be Safe Play approved
Act as a point person to providers, players, and others. Maintain and foster relationships

Job Description:
The Tennis Instructor will assist the Director of Community Tennis by providing on-court instruction and support to our Play and Learn Tennis Program
Essential Duties:
Provide tennis instruction for the Play and Learn Tennis program
Provide tennis instruction in a safe manner
Be properly groomed and dressed
Act in a professional and customer service oriented manner
Working Conditions: Outdoors on the tennis court
Hours: 19 hours or less a week
Equipment Use: Computer access and proficiency to communicate by e-mail and access class roster.
Mental and Physical Demands: Requires the ability to play tennis at an NTRP level of 3.5 or higher. Requires the ability to teach group tennis lessons outdoors for up to 5 consecutive hours and ability to lift 25lbs. Transportation required.
Communication Demands: Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Frequent communication with the Director of Community Tennis. Requires contacts and good rapport with the community.
