Maui Junior Tennis Grant

Maui Junior Tennis Grant Program

PURPOSE

To provide financial assistance to the Maui tennis community and specifically to provide financial assistance to Maui junior tennis players to travel to tennis tournaments on other islands and the mainland. The grant is limited to $500 per junior and must be used for travel expenses to approved tennis tournaments.

ELIGIBILITY

To qualify an applicant must:

  • Be a current resident of Maui

  • Be age 18 or younger

  • Demonstrate financial need

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Financial need of applicant

  2. Other special circumstances will be considered but are not required to be demonstrated

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

A completed Maui Junior Tennis Grant application form

W-2 Form or Federal Tax Return

APPLICATION PROCESS 

  1. Complete the Maui Junior Tennis Grant application form, which must be signed by a parent/guardian

  2. Email a copy of your completed form only to: romano@hawaii.usta.com (do not email documents)

  3. Mail the form and all required documents to:

RECIPIENTS RESPONSIBILITY

All grant recipients are:

  • Required to attend and participate in the tennis tournament for which the grant is awarded. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the loss of the grant and/or eligibility for future grants

  • Required to submit receipts for the travel expenses

  • After attending and participating in the tournament, required to submit a 1 page summary of how the grant benefited the recipient to mcto@gmail.com

  • Expected to, if asked, participate in Maui volunteer activities to help promote tennis

Maui Tennis Grant

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Maui Tennis Grant is to promote tennis on Maui and to support the Maui tennis community in light of the Maui Wildfires.

CRITERIA:

Grants should be focused on the mission of the USTA “to promote and develop the growth of tennis” and to support one or more of the strategic priorities of the USTA:

●     To increase the number of tennis courts

●     To increase the number of tennis coaches

●     To increase the number of tennis players

The grant can cover a variety of programs, activities, events and equipment. Examples of these include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.   Grants for junior travel expenses

2.   An equipment package for Maui teaching pros / coaches

3.   Grants for adult league players to Sectional Championships

4.   Equipment for the Maui junior tennis clubs

5.   Equipment for Maui high school tennis teams

DEADLINE:

The grant process is on a rolling basis and there are no deadlines.
