USTA Coaching Workshop on Sunday, June 14 from 10am - 2:30pm at the McKinley Highschool Tennis Courts (Honolulu, Hawaii). The speakers are remarkable and globally recognized. This is a great and rare opportunity for our local tennis coaches/instructors/parent volunteer coaches.

Wayne Elderton

Wayne is one of the highest certified, and highly awarded, coaches in Canada. Acknowledged as one of Canada's top coaching educators, he has created many pieces of the certification system's educational materials, courses and curriculums. He is a foundational architect of Canada's Red/Orange/Green program as well as the Wheelchair Instructor Certification course & materials. He is a national expert on Game-Based Approach, Situation Training and other modern coaching methodologies. He has developed numerous national Junior champions, coached 3 players to the top 10 in the world in Wheelchair tennis, coached several players who have earned US scholarships and some who have gone on to achieve professional tennis rankings.
Butch Staples
Butch is currently the National Education and Learning Advisor for USTA Coaching. His former positions included National Racquet Sports Director and Education Director for Midtown Athletic Clubs, Director of Special Projects for the Van Der Meer Tennis University, Director of Tennis at Gray Rocks Inn, and Tennis and Basketball Coach at McGill University in Montreal. His diverse career also included teaching Elementary and Secondary Physical Education as well as 8 years in Hospitality management as President General Manager of a ski, golf and tennis resort north of Montreal.
Butch is a PTR Master Professional, a 35+ year RSPA Elite Professional, a popular speaker at national and international industry conferences and a 25 year veteran USTA Coach Developer.
RSI magazine recently honored Butch as the recipient of the 2024 Tennis Industry Service Award. He also received the USOC Doc Councilman Science award in 2009, was named PTR Pro of the year in 2010 and received the prestigious International Tennis Hall of Fame Educational Merit Award in 2012.
