OUR PUBLIC TENNIS COURTS NEED REPAIR!
City and County of Honolulu

Public Tennis Courts
We have had many concerns about the condition of the public tennis courts in Honolulu. Many tennis courts are cracked and in need of repair.
USTA Hawaii Pacific works closely with the Department of Parks and Recreation so we can provide a variety of tennis tournaments, leagues and classes for the community. We are fortunate to have access to many courts so we can offer these programs.
We share these concerns about the condition of the tennis courts, and we recently met with Mayor Blangiardi, Chief of Staff Andy Sugg, and Director of Parks and Recreation Lauren Thielen. We also met with City Council Chair Tommy Waters and the Council Member responsible for Parks and Recreation, Andria Tupola.
Bottom line: they are all concerned about the condition of the tennis courts, and Mayor Blangiardi directed his staff to accelerate the bids for tennis court repairs.
In addition, the USTA has grant money that we offered to the city to help cover the costs of repairing tennis courts. There are different USTA grants available, and we are trying to obtain the maximum amount of funding so we can have as many courts as possible resurfaced and repaired.
We will keep you informed through our newsletter and website.
