Battle of the Sections: meet the players and coaches who represented our section at the 2025 Battle of the Sections!

The Battle of the Sections Level 1 Team Championship—for boys' and girls' 16s and 18s—ran July 26-30 in Kalamazoo, Michigan (boys') and Claremont, California (girls') in the lead-up to the USTA National Championships. Each USTA section will send boys' and girls' teams composed of eight players: four 16-and-under players and four 18-and-under players. Together, these eight players will play as one team and participate in four singles and four doubles matches over the course of the tournament. The Eastern Section will designate coaches for the boys' and girls' teams.

The June 25 USTA National Combined Standing List was used for selection. The three highest-ranked players in each division (boys' 16s, girls' 16s, boys' 18s, girls' 18s) who registered were selected to compete. 

Thank you to coaches Lauren Conching and Daniel Pollock for accompanying the Hawaii girls team to The Claremont Club in California and boys team to Kalamazoo, Michigan to compete in the 2025 Battle of the Sections.

In 2024, the L1 - Battle of the Sections became an official USTA team event for juniors!
